Important reasons why you shouldn’t wear shorts on a plane

Here are some important reasons why you might want to reconsider wearing shorts on a plane: Hygiene and Cleanliness 1. Seat and armrest cleanliness: Plane seats and armrests can harbor germs and bacteria. Wearing shorts exposes your skin to potential germs. 2. Floor and footrest cleanliness: Airplane floors and footrests can be dirty and contaminated. Shorts can make you more susceptible to coming into contact with these surfaces. Safety and Comfort 1. Emergency evacuations: In the unlikely event of an emergency evacuation, wearing shorts can leave your legs vulnerable to injury from sharp objects or extreme temperatures. 2. Turbulence and seatbelt safety: Shorts can make it more difficult to secure your seatbelt properly, which can be a safety concern during turbulence. 3. Cold cabin temperatures: Airplane cabins can get chilly, especially during long-haul flights. Wearing shorts can make you feel colder and less comfortable. Respect for Fellow Passengers 1. Personal space and proximity: Wearing shorts can make you more aware of your personal space and proximity to fellow passengers, which can be uncomfortable. 2. Cultural and social considerations: Some cultures or social settings may view wearing shorts as impolite or inappropriate. Be mindful of your fellow passengers’ perspectives. Additional Considerations 1. Insect bites and sun exposure: If you’re flying to or from a region with insect-borne illnesses, wearing shorts can increase your risk of getting bitten.2. Post-flight activities: If you plan to go directly to a meeting, dinner, or other engagement after your flight, wearing shorts might not be the most suitable attire. While wearing shorts on a plane might seem convenient, consider these factors to ensure a safe, comfortable, and respectful flight experience for yourself and others. Sedona, Arizona The stark contrast between the deep orange ‘red rocks’ and the evergreen brush makes the landscape of Sedona truly unique. Clamber to the top of Cathedral Rock for sunset or have a picnic at the Sedona Airport Overlook to appreciate some of the best scenery in America from above. These two spots are also regarded as vortex sites, areas that have uplifting and healing energies. If you want to make your visit to Sedona part of a longer trip, drive through Arizona starting in Phoenix and ending at Grand Canyon National Park (the South Rim is only 2.5 hours from Sedona!). We recommend booking Sedona Pines Resort if you plan on staying overnight. 2. Moab, Utah It’s easy deciding to visit Moab, Utah when you find out its central location to five incredible national parks: Zion National Park, Canyonlands, Arches, Bryce Canyon, and Capitol Reef. Known as the ‘Mighty 5,’ the national parks in Utah are some of the best places to visit in the USA for their outdoor activities. Visitors can go hiking, biking, river rafting, ATVing, canyoneering, horseback riding, stargazing, and so much more. To fully experience the parks, their respective landmarks, and the city of Moab, visit anywhere from three days to a week. Rent a car in Moab, then follow this Utah road trip guide to make sure you hit all five parks! 3. Fredericksburg, Texas Dubbed as one of ‘6 of America’s most romantic small towns‘ by CNN Travel, Fredericksburg is about an hour and a half drive from both San Antonio and Austin. This charming US town is best known for its German heritage. The first immigrants settled in Central Texas in 1846 and much of their legacy remains. You can eat a bratwurst at Friedhelm’s Bavarian Inn, stroll through historic buildings on Main Street, and end the evening with a stein at Artdolf Biergarten. However, beer isn’t the only drink of choice here. Fredericksburg is home to over 50 wineries, 10 of which have tasting rooms along Main Street that you can enjoy with your loved one. 4. Breckenridge, Colorado Although most commonly associated with skiing and snowboarding, Breckenridge has so much more to offer. Spring brings colorful pops of purple lupines, marsh marigolds, and scarlet gilia across the meadows and hills. The fall turns the trees golden and the air crisp. Whether you prefer hiking through the Rocky Mountains, cooling off at Higgles Ice Cream from the summer heat, or getting cozy in the historic downtown, Breckenridge is one of the best places to visit in the USA year-round. If you want to see more breathtaking views, you can extend your stay by taking a road trip through Colorado. Fly to Denver International Airport, then rent a car to get to Breckenridge and around. 5. Yosemite National Park, California Another must-see place in the USA is Yosemite National Park in California. With over 760,000 acres to roam, this park is brimming with natural landmarks — take in the view of Yosemite Valley from Glacier Point, feel small under the towering sequoias of Mariposa Grove, and, if you’re really adventurous, climb Half Dome. The 17-mile trek isn’t for the faint of heart though, with 5,000 feet of elevation gain and just cables to keep you from falling for the last 400 feet of the trail. 6. Columbia River Gorge, Oregon About half an hour from Portland, Oregon is an incredibly scenic area known as the Columbia River Gorge. Approximately 90 miles long, the gorge creates a natural border between Oregon and Washington states. On either side of the river are lush landscapes of Douglas fir and overflowing waterfalls. The most notable one, Multnomah Falls, is the tallest waterfall in Oregon towering at 620 feet. Its two tiers are marked, not by a natural landmark, but by a man-made one: Benson Bridge. The view of the bridge and Multnomah Falls is iconic, and a place that needs to be visited at least once during your lifetime! 7. Gatlinburg, Tennessee If you’re looking for a relaxing staycation in the mountains, Gatlinburg, Tennessee is the top contender. A little over three hours from Nashville–and known as the gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains–Gatlinburg is full of striking landscapes. You can see the mountains in every direction from the Gatlinburg Space Needle, a ride on the SkyLift, or the SkyBridge. You can also explore the historic side of the mountain town, with preserved cabins from the 1800s, an old mill, and a one-room schoolhouse. Otherwise, spend your time on countless hiking trails, with bubbling streams, waterfalls, and wildlife (like black bears!). However, you can also escape the need to see and do anything — stay at your own cabin, cozying up inside next to the fire, or sitting in your hot tub under the night

UK changes travel rules for travellers from Nigeria to England

UK changes travel rules for travellers from Nigeria to England Fully vaccinated travellers from Nigeria will now be able to visit England without needing to take multiple COVID-19 tests or self isolate. From Monday, 11 October 2021, fully vaccinated travellers from Nigeria will be able to visit England without needing to provide a pre-departure test, undertake a day 8 test or self-isolate for 10 days, although will still need to book and pay for a day 2 test. This policy applies to those fully vaccinated with AstraZeneca (including Covidshield), Pfizer, Moderna and Janssen (Johnson and Johnson). Fully vaccinated means that you have had a complete course of an approved vaccine at least 14 days before you arrive in England. The day you had your final dose does not count as one of the 14 days. You must be able to prove that you have been fully vaccinated under a vaccination programme and have a valid proof of vaccination recognised by the British Government. For Nigeria, the certificates with valid QR codes as issued by Nigeria’s National Primary Health Care Development Agency are recognised. If you are not a fully vaccinated traveller from Nigeria to England, you must: After you arrive, you must: Acting British High Commissioner, Ben Llewellyn-Jones, said: The exemption of fully-vaccinated Nigerians travelling to the UK from providing a pre-departure test and self-isolating for 10 days, is a very welcome development. To make this happen, we have been working closely with Nigeria’s National Primary Health Care Development Agency on recognising Nigeria’s vaccine certification, which we have now done. The UK remains committed to opening up international travel and enabling those who wish to enter the UK, to do so safely. Vaccines work and – as the pandemic has shown – no one is safe until we are all safe. I would encourage all eligible people to get vaccinated.
